Sphynx on TV, how the Scoot Inn changed my life, and more!

First of all, I refuse to apologize for the months-long period of nothing. I was busy playing outside and throwing powder on my friends.

yes.

This is the guy I’m interning for! He does magical things like book shows at Red 7, Thunderbird Coffee on Manor, manages Milk Thistle and East Cameron Folkcore, AND just started working for the Beauty Bar! Damn, son, you busy n shit.
Anyway, this is going to be really fun. Come out and buy the guy a beer. I would, but seeing he’s ten years older than I am, it’s illegal.

Found this trailer a few minutes ago. It’s called Echotone and it’s about Austin’s music scene. Shot beautifully, and I always love crap about Austin because invariably, I recognize someone. You might be in it? Dana Falconberry is in it! It premieres at the Alamo Drafthouse downtown on April 24th. I’ll be there either way, since that’s where I work. Fun! Tickets here.

I finished booking the Eagle Claw tour. finally.

EEEEEAGLECLAAAAAAAAAAAWran into one of those guys at Mugshots once. I didn’t know who he was, but O’Neal did, and then I learned how hard they shred. If you’re getting sick of cutesy folk love songs, remember these guys.

Nick Pina is this guy who showed up at WXWC with an HD video camera, got really drunk and videotaped a lot of stuff. Will Patterson edited it, spectacularly I might add. I know there’s a lot more footage but I don’t know if either of them have plans to make a part two. He interviewed my dad! I don’t know what they talked about but I wanna see it.

brb

don’t expect anything from me for a couple weeks. i’m burned the fuck out. everyone is, i think. go take a nap and i’ll see you later.

mother of all SXSW schedules

My buddy J Blaze spent a really long time making this spreadsheet of SXSW crap going on - including if there’s free booze/food/RSVP/etc. At least I think he made it. He might not have. Anyway, this has everything that’s happening, every day. Go nuts!

SPRINGS!

During WXWC, Josh Halpern (Final Exam, Marmalakes) dropped his phone underneath 21st Street’s stage and couldn’t get it out. The stage opens up, but his phone had fallen in a crack between the stage and the back wall, so it was about eight feet out of arm’s reach. A co-oper named Mustache Dan waltzed in with a power drill and detached a piece from the stage; then Chris (pictured above), armed with a stick and a flashlight, army-crawled under the stage and retrieved Josh’s phone. Then he gave me one of his CDs and asked if I’d listen to his record.
